travel: san francisco.

at the airport with a bit of time to kill this morning, headed off to one of my favorite cities, SAN FRANCISCO! just a few of the things i can’t wait for…

the beautiful city, wearing my scarves again (it’s WAY too hot in houston!), toms & of course happy hour with my sister! also, can’t forget brunch at blue jay’s cafe tomorrow morning – their eggs benedict is to die for!

next stop… sonoma county wine country!

when it comes to decorating a room, it can be just that – decorating. don’t become overwhelmed with the thought of “starting over” or “redoing” everything that is existing. it can be as easy as finding a photo of something you love and accessorizing with it!

this weeks interior inspiration comes from summer brights & chevron stripes!

this past weekend i stumbled upon a new favorite place of mine – max’s wine dive in houston. to my awe, on the menu were red velvet pancakes! lets just say i had to indulge.

after every last bite was consumed i was determined to find a recipe on here to DIY at home. how fabulous would these be for a ladies brunch? or post “morning after” meal?

RED VELVET PANCAKES

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 large egg, lightly beaten
3/4 buttermilk
1/4 cup creme fraiche or sour cream
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a large bowl whisk together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and creme fraiche/sour cream, melted butter, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Add them together and whisk just until combined. A little lumpy is fine. Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium high heat. When hot add butter or oil to grease, followed by a small scoop of the batter. Wait for the pancakes to bubble (2-3 minutes), flip and cook for a minute or two more. Enjoy!
max’s were topped with a dollop of lemon cream cheese frosting – decadent!!
let me know how they turn out! xo.
