everytime i step into zgallerie i say to myself, “my next home is going to be a loft in seattle, decked out in the funkiest things i can find”! a very different take then my usual traditional/vintage decor – but how fun would it be? after seeing this room – i’ve been dreaming of recreating it, even if it’s only on my blog!

drink + dine: popovers.

a favorite memory of mine is spending time with my best friend at her grandmothers house in portola valley and lunching at neiman marcus. if you haven’t been you must, because the popovers with strawberry butter are something i dream about regularly. so when my best friend popped in for a visit last weekend, i thought i would try to make the popovers myself!


1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted, plus more for greasing tin
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 1/4 cups milk


Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a popover tin.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and 1 tablespoon melted butter. Pour over flour mixture, and fold until just blended.
Fill the popover cups two-thirds to three-quarters full.
Transfer tin to oven, and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees, and bake until well browned and crusty, about 20 minutes. Remove popovers from the oven.


to make it just like niemans, i whipped up some strawberry butter (by beating together 1/2 cup of butter with 1/2 cup strawberry preserves) and it was the perfect touch for an indulgent breakfast. let just say, we indulged.

hue of the week.

with valentine’s day right around the corner (2 days but who’s counting right?), love sure seems to be in the air! i happen to love valentine’s day, but for those skeptic’s out there maybe this will liven your day! what girl doesn’t love the perfect dress, lingerie, earrings or perfume… even for herself!
